We've been organising Chardham yatra car rentals since 2012 from our base in Ukhimath, 41 km from Kedarnath. Here's everything you need to book right — and avoid the mistakes most first-timers make.
For 2026 availability & confirmed rates
The four dhams — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — are spread across Uttarakhand's mountain roads. The total driving distance from Haridwar and back is roughly 1,500 km, often more depending on stops.
On these roads, shared cabs mean waiting at dhabas, rushing through shrines, and zero flexibility. A private Chardham taxi service lets you leave Sonprayag at 3 AM for the Kedarnath trek base, pause at Rudraprayag for chai, or stay an extra hour at Badrinath without renegotiating your entire schedule.
For families, senior pilgrims, or anyone travelling with luggage — it's not a luxury. It's the practical choice.
Leave early, stay late — your pace, your pilgrimage
Knows Sonprayag parking, Joshimath diversions & more
Senior-friendly stops, AC, and no strangers on board
One price agreed upfront — no meter, no surprises
We've handled yatra logistics since 2012. The single biggest problem we see? Groups booking cheap shared cabs and missing their Kedarnath trek slot because the driver was stuck waiting for another passenger in Rudraprayag. Don't do that.
Availability is limited in peak season (May–June). Confirm your dates now.
All rates below are for 2026, driver-included and fuel-included. GST at 5% applies on top. Confirm tolls and parking are included before paying an advance.
The quote you get over the phone often excludes driver accommodation on hill nights, toll charges on the Rishikesh–Devprayag stretch, and parking fees at Sonprayag and Joshimath. Always ask: "Is this all-inclusive?" before paying an advance. We give you a written breakdown before you confirm anything.
Standard sequence: Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath. Route may vary by opening dates each year.
| Leg | Distance (approx.) | Drive Time | Night Halt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haridwar → Barkot (Yamunotri base) | 180 km | 7–8 hours | Barkot / Janki Chatti |
| Barkot → Uttarkashi (Gangotri base) | 100 km | 4 hours | Uttarkashi / Harsil |
| Uttarkashi → Sonprayag Kedarnath | 230 km | 8–9 hours | Sitapur / Sonprayag |
| Sonprayag → Badrinath | 215 km | 7–8 hours | Badrinath / Joshimath |
| Badrinath → Haridwar (return) | 320 km | 10–11 hours | Rudraprayag or direct |
This is the itinerary we actually run — not a calendar stuffed with unrealistic driving hours. Realistic drive times, proper rest nights, and buffer days built in.
We adjust this itinerary based on your group's pace, opening dates, and whether you want buffer days at Kedarnath or Badrinath. We also offer Panch Kedar extensions for pilgrims who want to go beyond the standard four dhams. Contact us and we'll plan it with you.
Tell us your travel dates, group size, and pace — we'll plan the route and send you a breakdown within 2 hours.
This is where most booking mistakes happen. Some operators quote a low number, then charge separately for every extra. Before you confirm any Chardham taxi service, verify each of these:
Your own hotel stays, meals, porter/doli charges at Kedarnath, pony rides, and helicopter bookings are separate. We help you plan these but don't package them into the taxi rate — so you can choose what fits your budget.
Your driver cannot take you past the shrine checkpoints without a valid Chardham Yatra registration slip. Most pilgrims are surprised to learn this only when they're already in Haridwar.
Get your registration done before or right after confirming your taxi booking:
These aren't things you'll find on travel aggregator sites. They come from 14 years of running yatras on these roads.
If your driver isn't parked at Sonprayag early, you may miss your shuttle slot to Gaurikund and lose an entire day. We recommend a night halt at Sitapur or Sonprayag the evening before — not at Guptkashi, which adds 30 minutes of uncertainty in the morning rush.
In peak season (May–June), the stretch between Joshimath and Badrinath can add 2–3 hours in each direction due to single-lane traffic control. Tempo Travellers sometimes face longer waits here. Factor this in — especially if you're planning both morning darshan and a same-day return drive.
Almost no standard taxi package mentions this. Triyuginarayan, where Lord Shiva and Parvati are said to have wed, is just 12 km from Sonprayag. If your driver hasn't been asked, they won't take you there. We always ask upfront.
The Rishikesh–Devprayag stretch has multiple toll plazas that get congested. Exact change saves 10–15 minutes each way — not much individually, but it adds up over 12 days and mountain roads where time genuinely matters.
Kedarnath and the other dhams open on auspicious muhurtas that change annually. Booking a taxi without confirming the opening dates for 2026 is a common mistake — especially for April or May departures where a one-week shift makes a big difference.
These are driver-included, fuel-included figures. GST at 5% is additional. Any quote below this range — ask carefully what's excluded.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Full Circuit (10–12 days) | Kedarnath Only | Best For |
