Planning a Kedarnath Yatra is not just booking a trip — it is preparing for one of the most sacred journeys in Hinduism. We are based in Ukhimath, 41 km from the Kedarnath shrine, and we have been guiding pilgrims and trekkers since 2012. Our packages are built from real on-ground experience, not from behind a desk in a city.
A Kedarnath Yatra package covers everything from your pick-up point to the darshan at the shrine and back — including transport, accommodation, a local guide, pony or doli arrangements if needed, and VIP darshan assistance in many packages. The exact inclusions depend on how many days you have and whether you are combining it with other dhams.
We have been organising Kedarnath Yatra trips since 2012. Most pilgrims coming from the plains need a minimum of 3 nights and 4 days just for Kedarnath — add 2–3 more days if you are also visiting Badrinath. First-timers often underestimate the travel time in the hills; we build comfortable buffers into every schedule.
The shrine sits at 3,583 metres (11,755 feet). The trek from Gaurikund to the temple is 18 km one way. For seniors, children, or those with health concerns, helicopter and doli options make the Yatra accessible without the full trek.
All packages are customisable. If you have a fixed group, a tight budget, or senior pilgrims, just call or WhatsApp — we will adjust the plan accordingly.

This is the most common format we recommend for first-time pilgrims starting from Haridwar or Rishikesh. It avoids rushing and gives you proper rest at altitude.
We start early — ideally by 5 AM — from Haridwar or Rishikesh. The route goes through Devprayag (the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi), Rudraprayag, and then up to Guptkashi, which sits at around 1,319 metres and is your base for the next morning's trek start. We stop at Rudraprayag for tea — it is a beautiful spot and worth a 20-minute break. Evening pooja at the Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi is a tradition many of our pilgrims love.
Leave Guptkashi by 4:30 AM to reach Sonprayag by 5:30 AM. From here, government shared jeeps take you to Gaurikund (5 km, approx 30 minutes). The trek to Kedarnath begins from Gaurikund (1,982 m) and covers 18 km with an altitude gain of about 1,600 metres. The path passes through Jungle Chatti, Bheembali, and Linchauri — all with small dhabas and first-aid points. Most fit pilgrims take 6–8 hours on foot. With a pony, the same route takes 4–5 hours.
We always advise pilgrims to start no later than 6 AM to avoid afternoon clouds which often bring sudden rain above 2,500 metres. We have seen too many groups get drenched or stuck because they started late.
Wake up by 4 AM for the morning aarti — it begins around 4:30 AM and is one of the most powerful experiences you will have. The temple queue for darshan can be 2–4 hours during peak season (May–June). VIP darshan cuts this significantly. After darshan, breakfast at Kedarnath before starting the descent. Descend to Gaurikund (3–4 hours on foot, 2 hours by pony), then shared jeep to Sonprayag. From here, we drive you to Guptkashi or Ukhimath for night stay. Those interested can visit Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath — where Lord Kedarnath's idol rests in winter.
Start by 6–7 AM and reach Haridwar or Rishikesh by 2–3 PM, depending on traffic at Rudraprayag and Devprayag. If time allows, a short stop at the Devprayag confluence is worth it — it is where the Ganga officially begins. This day is also where we check if any pilgrims want to add a side trip to Chopta or Chandrashila on the return, subject to season and energy levels.
There is no single fixed price — the cost depends on group size, season, transport type, and whether you choose pony/helicopter options. Here is an honest breakdown.

We live here. Our office is in Ukhimath, 41 km from the Kedarnath shrine. We know every pothole on the road, every pony operator by name, and every guesthouse worth staying in. Here is what that means for you.
We are not a Delhi or Dehradun travel desk. We operate from Ukhimath village, the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. Our ground knowledge cannot be replicated from a city office.
We have been guiding yatris since 2012 — through every kind of weather, road condition, and group dynamic. We know when to push forward and when to rest. That judgment is earned, not learned from a textbook.
Every package we quote is itemised. You know exactly what is included and what is not. We do not add surprise charges after you have arrived in the mountains. What is agreed in writing stays fixed.
We monitor the Kedarnath trek route conditions daily during the yatra season. If weather changes, landslides, or route closures affect your plan, we know before any news channel does — and we adjust your itinerary immediately.
Our guides carry local SIM cards that work on the Kedarnath route. You can reach us at any point during the trip. Family members at home often contact us directly when they cannot reach the travelling pilgrim — we bridge that gap.
Every guide we deploy holds a valid Uttarakhand Tourism registration and has completed first-aid training. On a high-altitude trek, this matters more than it sounds. We do not use unregistered helpers to cut costs.
Since 2019, registration for the Kedarnath Yatra is mandatory. You must register on the Uttarakhand Tourism portal and carry your registration slip. Walk-in pilgrims without registration are not allowed on the trek route. This is strictly enforced, especially during peak season when daily pilgrim limits are in place.
We handle this registration for all our package clients at no extra cost. If you are booking independently, we are happy to walk you through the process — just reach out to us.
The shrine opens in late April or early May (Akshaya Tritiya) and closes in November (Bhai Dooj). May–June is peak season — crowded but good weather. July–August is monsoon — the trek can be slippery and helicopter services are suspended during heavy rain. September–October is our favourite: thin crowds, clear skies, and the valley turns gold before winter.
For a genuinely peaceful Kedarnath experience, we recommend mid-September to mid-October. You will rarely have to queue for darshan, weather is stable, and the landscape is stunning.
The 18 km trek to Kedarnath from Gaurikund involves an altitude gain of around 1,600 metres. You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be able to walk steadily for 6–8 hours. Pilgrims with heart conditions, high BP, or severe arthritis should consult a doctor before the trek. The helicopter is a valid option — it is not "giving up," it is being sensible about altitude.
Many pilgrims coming for Kedarnath add a day or two to see more of this extraordinary region. Here is what is worth it.

Your Kedarnath Yatra package will include transport, but here is the full picture of how the route works — especially useful if you are coordinating with family or arriving from different cities.
Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun/Dehradun) is the nearest airport, about 215 km from Kedarnath. From the airport, you can hire a taxi to Haridwar or Rishikesh, and then continue by road. Flights connect to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Haridwar / Rishikesh stations | 210 km to SonprayagThe main road route is Haridwar → Devprayag → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag. You can book our Uttarakhand taxi service for the full route. Char Dham taxi from Haridwar is also available for those doing the full circuit.
Haridwar to Sonprayag: 210 km | ~8–9 hrsHelicopter services operate from Phata (20 km from Guptkashi) and Sirsi to Kedarnath. The flight takes 7–10 minutes and costs ₹4,500–₹6,500 per person one way. Booking opens in February–March for peak season slots. Slots fill extremely fast — book early.

Real questions we get from pilgrims every day — answered honestly from our 12+ years on the ground.
The minimum is 3 nights and 4 days starting from Haridwar or Rishikesh. This gives you one full travel day to reach Sonprayag/Guptkashi, one day for the trek up and night at Kedarnath, one day for darshan, descent, and travel toward home, and a final return travel day. Rushing it to 3 days is possible but not recommended — altitude needs time.
For a family of 4 on a 4-night, 5-day package, total cost including transport, accommodation, guide, and pony for 2 members typically ranges from ₹38,000 to ₹55,000 depending on the season and hotel category. Helicopter upgrades or VIP darshan add to this. Contact us for an exact quote.
Yes — if you can take 8 days, combining both shrines in one journey is extremely fulfilling and more economical than two separate trips. The route flows naturally from Kedarnath to Badrinath via Guptkashi → Ukhimath → Rudraprayag → Chamoli → Badrinath. Many of our clients do this as their once-in-a-decade pilgrimage trip. See our Badrinath Temple page for route details.
The shrine typically opens on Akshaya Tritiya (April–May) and closes on Bhai Dooj (October–November). The exact dates are announced annually by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee. During winter, Lord Kedarnath's idol is moved to Ukhimath where pujas continue through the off-season. We publish the confirmed dates every year on our blog.
Yes — with the right support. Senior pilgrims can use the doli (palanquin carried by 4 people), pony, or helicopter to avoid the physical stress of the 18 km trek. We have successfully organised Yatras for pilgrims in their 70s and 80s. Please share health details when enquiring so we can build a safe, realistic plan. Certain heart conditions may require a doctor's clearance — we will be honest with you about what is advisable.
Typically included: Transport (pickup/drop), accommodation, local guide, darshan assistance, Sonprayag–Gaurikund shared taxi. Typically not included: Pony/doli/helicopter (add-on), meals (except trek day in some packages), personal expenses, camera fees at temple, travel insurance, and train/flight to Haridwar. We clearly itemise everything in our quote — no surprises.
We have been planning this journey for pilgrims from across India since 2012. Tell us your dates, your group, and your priorities — we will build the right package for you. No pressure, no sales scripts.
